As my intrepid tomcat Danny (who was also an avid reader) could have told you, the writing bug didn't bite me until – um – late in life. When Danny was still a kitten I put the bedtime stories I'd been telling my daughter on paper and gradually realized what an incredible thing writing fiction is. Those stories eventually led to my novel for kids and young adults, Wheel of Katarnum. A possible sequel to Katarnum is in the pipeline. In addition, keep your eyes open for a slightly more adult novel about a young girl fleeing the advancing Russian army in WWII, inspired by a true story!

Beyond the magic gate

He's got eyes more turquoise than a tropical lagoon, the red skin of an Indian and a brilliant father who's vanished. Rob Hawkins can't change the first two, but he could possibly save his dad -- and maybe find out why he's treated him like an uninvited stranger for the last fourteen years. But there's one small catch: his father is locked in a cell in a parallel world called the Realm of Katarnum. The sadistic ruler of this world, the Wheelmaster, is planning to use him to enslave the whole Earthly Realm. Ready or not (mostly not), Rob and his best friend Samantha have just three days to snatch Rob's father from under the Wheelmaster's diabolical nose, a pretty tall order for a boy who barely made his seventh grade basketball team.
